Gillian Hooker, PhD, ScM
Genetic Counselor/Project Director
Dr. Hooker is the associate director of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health/ National Human Genome Research Institute Genetic Counseling Training Program and a contracted staff scientist within the Social and Behavioral Research Branch of the NHGRI. In this role, she is helping to coordinate genetic counseling rotation opportunities within the Fisher Center. Prior to that she served as a project director and genetic counselor at Georgetown University's Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, where she was also a Research Instructor. She has a Master's degree (ScM) in genetic counseling from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health/ National Human Genome Research Institute Genetic Counseling Training Program and a PhD in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology from Yale University. Dr. Hooker is interested in behavioral and psychological outcomes of genetic counseling and genetic and genomic testing and patient decision-making following counseling and testing.
