Mary K. Sidawy

Mary K. Sidawy, MD, is a Professor of Pathology at Georgetown University. Her CV includes more than 50 publications, including several book chapters. She also edited a book on fine needle aspiration,Cytopathology Issue: Foundations in Diagnostic Pathology (series for Churchill Livingston, Elsevier).

Dr. Sidawy’s interests focus on translational breast cancer research and cytopathology of the breast. Specifically, she has worked in the areas of distinguishing proliferative and nonproliferative breast diseases, and cytology of ductal lavage in assessing risk for breast cancer in women. She collaborated on the renewal application of Breast Cancer SPORE grant at Georgetown. She began working with Dr. Rui on the on matriptase project as a prognostic marker. She also serves as a collaborator on the Breast Tissue Resource to assist with case reviews and diagnostic questions. Her expertise in cytopathology of breast disease and breast cancer histology is an important element in breast cancer-related research conducted at Lombardi.
