Research
A central part of the mission of the Fisher Center is to conduct state of the art research on the prevention, treatment and management of familial cancers in order to improve the medical and quality of life outcomes of men and women at risk for cancer. The Fisher Center advances our understanding of familial cancer through a multidisciplinary approach calling on specialists in basic science, epidemiology, and cancer prevention. Our team is committed to reducing the impact of familial cancers worldwide.
This section provides information for individuals who are interested in participating in genetic counseling and testing studies or clinical research for those who are increased risk of developing cancer. Information is provided about the Familial Cancer Registry (FCR), a shared resource at the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center. Patients with familial cancer risks may enroll in the FCR and we also describe services and fees for researchers. Finally, summaries of our ongoing and published research are provided as well as information about the Fisher Center pilot grant program.
