Genetic Counseling Interns
Georgetown is a clinical rotation site for graduate students attending local genetic counseling programs including: Johns Hopkins University/National Human Genome Research Institute, University of Maryland School of Medicine, and Howard University.
The genetic counselors at Georgetown are among the most experienced in the nation, and provide intensive supervision to interns, who will have an opportunity to participate in several diverse cancer genetic counseling sessions through our clinical and research programs. Casework can be used toward the completion of the ABGC logbook to qualify for certification. In addition, interns are required to complete a portion of the Fisher Center’s Cancer Genetic Counseling Casebook, a compilation of over 15 challenging cases accompanied by a series of interpretive questions, assignments, and directed literature reviews.
